We offer a variety of options when it comes to outdoor activities.

Play

Our park provides 4 unique and different playgrounds for families to enjoy.

Jaycee Park offers a vintage throwback for families to play and reminisce about childhood play from years past.

WOW Park offers updated adventure filled space for all ages.

Grate Sports complex play area is perfect for younger siblings to enjoy while older siblings participate in sports.

Coming soon - Our Campground play area will be updated with some new to us equipment.

Nature

We have many ways to experience nature.

Carthage Lake Trail: Whether your are a runner wanting to get some miles in or a bird watcher looking for some new habitat, the Carthage Lake Trail has something for everyone. Our ~2.5 miles of crushed limestone trail has shaded areas in the timber stand, open areas along the lake shore and a variety of flat and hills for casual walking or intense training. Enjoy the natural beauty for a sunset walk on our .5 mile short loop or buildup your endurance with a run around the full loop.

Carthage Lake: The lake contains a variety of fish species, weather you are bank fishing or using a boat. We offer a boat ramp with dock and kayak launch.

Kayaking: Carthage lake is a great place for beginners or experts when it comes to kayaking. The lake offers beautiful views and a easy in/out kayak launch. Don't have a kayak, we have you covered with our rental kayaks.

Camp

A hidden gem among the hickories and oaks, our campground is a quiet and simple park with water and electricity at each site. Bathrooms with showers are located only a few feet from the site and a short walk connects you with the trail or a lakeside sunset view. The Carthage Golf course is conveniently located next door for those wishing to get their game on.

Golf

If your a disc golfer, our Kiwanis Club 9 hole disc golf course is a great place to play and experience our park.

The Carthage Golf Course just down the road and adjacent to the campground is the premier 9 hole golf course in western IL.

Lion's Club Shelter Houses

Thanks to the Carthage Lion's club, three of the shelters have been completely rebuilt. At the Carthage Jaycee Park, we have 3 shelter houses available for use. All offer picnic tables, electric and close proximity to restrooms, playground, disc golf and swimming pool.
Another shelter is located near the boat docks and one at the campground has electric and picnic tables.

Shelters are free to use as a first come, first serve basis, but you can reserve one for $30 by clicking here.

Jaycee Park Playground

Our playground offers a variety of play structures from swings to a wooden play structure as well as slides and merry-go-round.

Kiwanis Disc Golf Course

The Kiwanis Disc Golf Course features 9 holes with terrain, trees and the lake in play. It is sure to prove easy for beginners but challenging enough for seasoned veterans.

Carthage Lake

Carthage Lake provides opportunity for fishing, kayaking and beautiful scenes for sunsets or photos.

Public Restrooms

Our park has restrooms located near the shelter houses across from the pool.
